Characteristic
Colorless liquid with a strong odor. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. May cause respiratory irritation. Very toxic to aquatic organisms.

Applications:

Ammonia is used as a leavening agent or acidity regulator. Household ammonia is dilute ammonia, which is also an ingredient of numerous other cleaning agents, including many window cleaning formulas. In addition it is used:
– in agriculture as a fertilizer,

– in tannery for the production of gelatine,

– in the power industry, in emission reduction installations to the atmosphere,

– in the rubber industry,

– in the dye industry,
